How to do a Gallbladder Purge
This site is meant to help direct people to a safe process for purging the gallbladder from sludge that builds up in the gallbladder.
Medical doctors will never tell you to do a gallbladder purge. It is not supported by any medical texts and is not taught as a valid medical intervention. Instead medical doctors are trained that the gallbladder must be removed when there is a problem. Sometimes the problem of a gallbladder not working properly is simply because it cannot contract sufficiently due to there being too much sludge in it, and hence bile cannot make its way out of the gallbladder efficiently.
The gallbladder contracts in response to the fats that are released by the stomach into the small intestine. The bile meets the fats so they can be absorbed into your system. Fats are very important to absorb as they are needed for your cell function, and for absorbing fat soluble nutrients like vitamin D, E and A.
High steatocrit on a stool test can be one indicator that you are not releasing (or making) bile efficiently, as well as pale stools. Pain at the right clavicle or scapula after eating fat can actually be pain radiating from the gallbladder itself. You can also feel pain at the gallbladder (~20 cm below the right nipple). However most people never feel pain even with sludge present, (and we all have some amount of sludge so it is not a bad idea for most people to do a gallbladder purge of the sludge about every 3-5 yrs even when feeling completely healthy).
Countless people have done this purge with no problems whatsoever and countless people have saved their gallbladder from being removed as a result of this purge.
The following ‘recipe’ for this purge was adapted from Hulda Clark and is a very simple version that you can do overnight so that you don’t have to spend too much time prepping and can get on with your busy life. (Hulda Clarks’s version goes on for days of prep with apple juice and much more stimulation of bile production itself, which I have not found to make a different in results).
In any case, please know that this site takes no responsibility for your outcome when doing the purge. You assume full responsibility for your health when doing this purge. An adverse event from doing this is extremely rare (*see below). Of course if you search on-line you will find many detractors and negative information and all of that will be from people who have never done this simple purge, or doctors who only subscribe to removing the gallbladder as the only solution.
Alas, please read directions below fully before starting anything and follow instructions closely:
INSTRUCTIONS FOR GALLBLADDER PURGE:
Ingredients:
Epsom salts: 4 tablespoons measured like you are baking a cake *(see below for caution)
Olive oil: half cup
Fresh pink grapefruit: 1-2, enough for 2/3 – ¾ cup juice
(alternatively I have used the following instead of grapefruit juice with the same success: ¼ cup apple cider vinegar, ¼ cup apple juice, and the juice of one lime)
Choose to do this on a day when you will have no commitments the following day.
Take no medicines that you can do without, and no supplements that day.
Breakfast: No fat (no butter, eggs, olive oil, milk, etc.)
(this will cause the bile to build up in the liver so more stones will be forced out)
Lunch: keep it light and still no fat
2:00 pm: do not eat after this time
***Mix 4 Tbs. Epsom salt with 3 cups of water (four ¾ cup servings to be used later)
Chill in the fridge if you desire to make it more palatable as it is extremely bitter.
Try to stick with the following timing:
6:00: drink ¾ cup of the Epsom salt water
8:00: Drink another ¾ cup of the Epsom salt water, and get ready to go to bed at 10pm.
9:45: Mix ½ cup olive oil with ½ -3/4 cup freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, shake well..
10:00pm: drink the olive oil/grapefruit juice mix, and get it all consumed within 5 minutes.
Lie down immediately to go to sleep.
Next morning: Around 6am, drink the third ¾ cup of Epsom salt water…it’s ok to go back to bed if you want.
2 hours later: fourth ¾ cup of Epsom salts
After 2 more hours you may start to eat as you feel you are able. Go with whatever you desire but keep it light at first.

What to expect:
Very loose and liquid bowel movements starting in the morning.
You will see pea green particles floating: this is what your gallbladder has released.
More rare are brown and grey colored pieces, as well as dark green pieces.
According to Hilda Clark, you will need to pass approximately 2000 pieces before all of your liver ducts and gall bladder are free of sludge…
It is ok and sometimes recommended to repeat this in 2-3 weeks if you want to be sure of getting more sludge released.
It is good maintenance to repeat this every 2-3 yrs, especially as you get older and especially if you had a gallbladder problem to begin with that instigated you doing this procedure.
Due to the purgative nature of this protocol, and how it can weaken you the day after, if you feel sick or run down in any way, DO NOT DO THIS PROTOCOL until you feel 100%
Also, keep your hydration up after doing this protocol!
*****
Do know that this is not a liver cleanse. This is a gallbladder purge and can be done at any time, independent of any other cleansing you may be doing.
*****
* Caution with Epson salt:
If you have been taking any magnesium containing laxatives, or have a known kidney issue (creatinine clearance less than 30) then do not do this protocol as it may be too much magnesium for you, which can be dangerous if your body is not able to clear it properly.
*Risk for an adverse event is extremely rare: the risk is for something to get lodged in the bile duct. The bile duct does stretch and can pass something as large as a 1 cm diameter stone or sludge (doctors are not taught that the bile duct can in fact stretch). An actual calcified stone may be at the highest risk for getting stuck (but it should actually slip right through as they are very smooth like a marble), but all of this is so rare that most doctors have never seen firsthand anything happening from this procedure. The other problem could be from there being a tumor present in the case of say gallbladder cancer, which is a silent cancer that is usually only discovered in late stages (and if that ended up being discovered as a result of a complication from doing this procedure then you could consider yourself fortunate for the early diagnosis). If pain were to persist into the morning then you would want to take in more olive oil/grapefruit or lemon juice to try and elicit more gallbladder contractions to push more bile out to clear the duct.
In any case, if acute pain persists for any number of hours, then be in touch with your doctor or go to urgent care or the ER in which an ultrasound would be advised. Do not wait longer than say 6 hrs if acute pain is persisting!
